A DAY IN VENICE
Venice is one of the most interesting cities in the world, it is built on over 100 tiny islands and connected by bridges. It is one of those cities where you want to get lost while travelling and discover the place by your self. The only means of transport here is by boat or by foot, making it more fun to explore since everything is close by.
Start the day by the railway station area and make your way towards the St. Mark’s Square.
Do not follow your map strictly and wander around random lanes, getting lost in Venice is fun!
Explore the brilliant Venetian architecture
Lunch break- pizzas on the street
Stuff your bags with fun souvenirs- masks and glass ware that is not easily breakable. There are also boutiques that sell some pretty unique stuff like hats, beaded accessories, wooden ship models etc.
Walk the several small bridges and view the quiet romantic canals before you get to the busy Rialto Bridge and Grand Canal
Take a gelato/ sweet treat break by the Grand Canal waterfront
From here (Rialto Bridge) its only a 2-3 minute walk to the St. Mark’s Square aka. Piazza San Marco, its a beautiful place with outdoor cafes to sit down after the long walk for a couple drinks/ food.
End the evening with a relaxing Gondola ride, if you are heading back to the station you can get dropped off there. You can also get a water taxi back.
If you have more time in Venice do not miss the Murano island where they handcraft beautiful glass pieces.
