While travelling from Rome to Florence we decided to take a quick stop and watch the sun set in beautiful Siena.

This stop was not originally planned and we had no research about the city. The small town in Tuscany is only accessible by foot, your car needs to be parked outside the city at a pay and park service. As we stepped into the city through a stone arch we were immediately transported into a medieval time with thin hilly streets and old brown buildings on a sunny evening.

We walked passed a few local shops that were just closing down and as we walked forward we were surprised to see big showrooms of popular retail chains underneath the old buildings. We spotted a stairway under an arch busy with people, it led us to a massive open space sourrounded by bars, restaurants and shops. In front of us was the City Hall- Palazzo Pubblico and this place is called Piazza del Campo.

We saw beautiful sun set while sipping our drinks, the large variety of snacks they served us filled us up for an early dinner before we headed back on the road.  You can even go to the top of the Palazzo Pubblico tower, we missed the opening hours. This city is a must go destination of Italy, we wished we had more time here.
